eXTReMe Tracker

And the winner for the Rembrandt award goes to:
- August 26 2010 -

So you guys may or may not know of a little thing called the "Lozzie Awards" hosted by Legend Of Zelda, but it's a pretty prestigious event in the Legend of Zelda community if you manage to get one of these.

Now, before we continue, I'd like to let you know that Darth has had nothing but door-busting designs for this site since I started here 4 1/2 years ago. The amount of time invested into each design truly shows some of the most cutting edge ideas, mixed with a blast of creativity, blended together with a spark of life, and it's baked in a Photoshop 7.0 toaster oven. Ladies and gentlemen, that is talent (Seriously, who knew you could bake a website design in Photoshop?). Without further ado, I proudly announce that the winner for the Rembrandt award From Legend of Zelda goes to Darth Citrus of Exploding Deku Nut. Congratulations Darth on a successful, stunning design.

August 26th, 2010 *EDIT* It seems we have won a second award!
quote ("Legend of Zelda.com"):

Another repeat winner from last year, Exploding Deku Nut claims the Colbert as their second award for this year. There is nothing truly surprising about this win: they have done Satire well almost as long as they’ve existed. Their current tagline still reads, as it has for years, ” ‘Cause humor ain’t just for crazy people.” There’s nothing crazy about Exploding Deku Nut’s ability to pump out great and amusing satire about the Legend of Zelda!

Once again, Congratulations Darth Citrus!

A Storm is Brewing...
- July 30 2010 -

It has been quite some time since I've made an appearance here on the front page, but you can now rest easy knowing that I am, in fact, not dead. Some of you may remember a long while back when I threw together a mish-mash of notes, called them songs, and hoped for the best, not even having so much as real instruments to work with and churning these out in a matter of hours each. Those days, I am glad to say, are long passed. I have not only acquired non-synthetic instruments to work with, but I have also acquired the patience and good taste to make my projects meet a much higher standard.

I would suppose the best example of this would be this release itself. What started out as a plan to release seven songs was soon dropped to three when I scrapped some failed attempts to recreate songs from the Zelda series. This count has been further reduced to one lonely track, as the other two have yet to undergo the meticulous process of finalization. Thus, I present to you my first release, Outset Island. It is my hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.

But perhaps an entire rendition of a Zelda track isn't quite your cup of tea. Perhaps you prefer coffee or one of those overpriced milkshakes called a "latte" from Starbucks or what-have-you. But I digress. I will also be releasing a transcription of Windfall Island for a saxophone soloist with a piano accompaniment, along with the score in pdf format. These transcriptions and remixes will become a fairly regular thing here at EDN, although I must warn in advance that I will not force myself to any release deadline because, for several reasons, this would only lead to a degradation of quality.

But enough of that. It is with great pride that I am finally able to announce the opening of Exploding Deku Nut's own music page, The Storm of Songs! A permanent link to the page can be found to the left under Media. Enjoy!

Hyrule Trivia Season 5 -Final Results-
- July 27 2010 -

And so the Fifth Season of Hyrule Trivia comes to an end. You would think that after 3+ years of this stuff you'd get bored, apparently we all thought wrongly. Time and time again contestants flock from various parts of the Zelda Community to take part in our little affair, and some make it an annual duty to just try again. This is to you, all of you, the members who have taken part and never placed, the members who continue to try for that glory. Congratulations for taking this ride so far.

Wait, what am I talking about?

COME BACK FOR SEASON SIX! laughing

After a month of cruel and unforgiving questions, we finally have made it to the end. I want to congratulate you all for taking part and to make sure that next year is even better. Our Top Three this year also deserve a hearty pat on the back!

In FIRST PLACE: Dream Illusionist, with 78 points!
In SECOND PLACE: Invaderzzim, with 76 points!
In TIEBREAKING THIRD PLACE: Brainiac01, with 39 points!

All three of these handsome gentlemen have won a prize. Maybe next year you can be like these gentlemen(women) and add your name to Hyrule Trivia fame! Come back next year, roughly, around the same time, late June, to signup and tackle 20 more questions of delicious challenge.

This is how everything added up:

In other HT news, Zender finally revealed how to solve his mindbending puzzle-riddle. If it taunted you with its 20 point worth this entire time, make sure you check that out! The Prize selection has already completed and now, there is nothing else to do but to give you guys the links and for everyone to congratulate the Top Three and for Dream Illusionist's acceptance into the HT Sages!

I speak for the team: Alpha, Darth Citrus, Nabeshin, Zender, myself and now Dream Illusionist, we all look forward to next year and seeing everyone come back to try their hand at Hyrule Trivia Season Six!

Love, the Hyrule Trivia Sages.

Hyrule Trivia -Round Three- Complete
- July 19 2010 -

Another week and another round of questions have finally ended! It was a tough week for all of our contestants, but no one should get discouraged by a 0 or a negative score, this week is all about the comeback! The Final Round of Hyrule Trivia starts today and each correct answer gives you EIGHT, yes, EIGHT points. The scoring thus far is as follows:

You'll notice the closer we get to the end of the Season, the more people stop submitting, and I have a few things to say over again about that. It's all in good fun and with point values escalating as much as they do per round, well, you can easily go from 10th to 4th, or even higher if you know your stuff or if you're just insanely lucky. No one should quit thinking it's impossible, believe me, last year shows that it isn't impossible to get a perfect score or even jump up a handful of places because of Rounds 3 and 4. wink

I extend congratulations this time not to perfect scores, since there were none, but this round was sadistically difficult, but to a select few for a very select thing. Out of all the submissions only BeefyLink, Dream Illusionist, and Linox answered the Riddle correctly, and I heartily congratulate them on this feat. I have never seen such trouble brewed out of such a small riddle, so kudos to Alpha for its creation tongue

Onto other business, Zender has finally broken down and given you all another hint to his ingenious puzzle. This is the last hint of the Season and hopefully it might spark something inside someone's mind to be able to crack the All Season Bonus. Those 20 points will surely go a long way if someone manages them. ;D

Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion to Hyrule Trivia, here at Exploding Deku Nut. The contest may be on its last legs, but the Final Round will surely beat some of you with its cane. As always, keep your eyes on the prize!

Also remember that you must have your answers into me by Private messaging by 23:59 GMT -4 Atlantic Time July 25th! Be there or be... given a zero.

And no one wants one of those.

You're also welcome ahead of time that I didn't include a Risk this round. laughing
